Outline (in English)
（Course outline）
This course introduces the methods for researching early modern novels to students taking this course.
（Learning Objectives）
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
(1) Be able to acquire knowledge about works and artists.
(2) Appropriate annotations can be made to the text of the work.
(3) Be able to ask and analyze questions about the work.
(4) Be able to logically explain one's own opinions and interpretations.
（Learning activities outside of classroom）
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant chapter from the text. Your required study time is at least two hours for each class meeting.
（Grading Criteria /Policy）
Grading will be based on in-class presentations (50%), reports (40%), and attendance (10%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
近世小説の研究方法を学ぶ。都賀庭鐘の読本である『英草紙』（第二篇を予定）を対象に、原話の白話小説と比較した上で注釈をつけ、その創作手法と文学史的位置づけについて検討する。
到達目標Goal
（１）作品と作家に関する知識を身につけることができる。
（２）作品の本文に対して適切な注釈を施すことができる。
（３）作品について自ら問いを立て、分析することができる。
（４）自らの意見や解釈を論理的に説明することができる。

総括
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
授業前には作品を精読し、授業後には授業内容を復習する。なお、本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とする。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
発表（50％）・レポート（40％）・授業への貢献度（10％）を成績評価の対象とする。
発表は、内容の充実度・レジュメの作り方・発表態度などを総合的に評価する。
レポートは、問題設定の独自性・論理性・文章能力などを総合的に評価する。
授業への貢献度は、ディスカッションの際の積極性を特に評価する。
