Outline (in English)

In this course, students are expected to carefully read Raymond William's The Country and the City (1973) and William Morris's News from Nowhere (1890) to discuss the texts and their relevant themes and issues. The goals of this course are to acquire the technique of interpreting literature and present a new interpretation convincingly. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. The final grade will be calculated according to the following process: participation in discussion (30%), presentation (30%) and term-end essay (40%).
