Outline (in English)

(Course outline) We read Plato's Republic. It is Plato's best-known work, and one of the most influential works of philosophy and political theory. ‘What is justice? ’Is the just man happier than the unjust man? ‘The aim of this course is to help students deepen their understanding of justice and happiness by careful reading of Plato's Republic.
(Learning Objectives) The goals of this course are to read the Greek text strictly, and to understand correctly Plato's thinking on justice.
(Learning activities outside of classroom) Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
(Grading Criteria /Policy) Final grade will be calculated according to the following process. Reading the Greek text (70%) and in-class contribution (30%).
