Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The classes are held for six consecutive days (two sessions per day) during the summer schooling period.  
The classes are taught by two teachers and include group work, lectures, measurements related to health and physical fitness, training practice and sports practice, etc. Credits are awarded based on a comprehensive evaluation of the students' participation in the activities during the classes, as well as the evaluation of assignments such as reaction papers, small reports and examinations.

From the perspective of the University's Diversity Declaration, the course is open to a wide range of students. However, students are advised to take the following points into consideration when taking the course: their own exercise experience, physical fitness, medical history and physical disabilities.
(1) No concerns about commuting to school for six consecutive days during the summer heat wave.
(2) Can manage their health during the summer schooling period as appropriate.
(3) Have no concerns about taking two classes in a row that involve physical activity (100 minutes per class).
(4) Can take appropriate measures to prevent heat stroke by drinking water as necessary, etc.

Details of this class will be explained at the initial guidance. Critiques and explanations of the presentations and reaction papers after the group work conducted in class will be given on the day of the class or at the next class.

【Learning Objectives】
The aim of this course is for students to understand Japan's sports policy, to carry out self-analysis on health and fitness, and to acquire behavioural changes that will contribute to improving their own health in the future.In addition, group work will lead to personal development, the development of thinking about health and fitness, and the resolution of issues. Specific objectives for this are listed below.

1.Be able to explain the sports policy of our country and related laws and plans.
2.Through work on the policy process, be able to describe the organisations and work involved in sports policy.
3.Understand the significance and role of physical activity from various perspectives.
4. be able to use sporting activities as a means of establishing a rich and healthy student and social life.
5. be able to consider the acquisition of basic knowledge and attitudes that contribute to self-management through the analysis of measured health-related information.
6.Consider the role of sport in communicating with others and solving problems in cooperation with others, which is considered extremely important for being active in social life after graduation.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
1. a reaction paper or class proficiency test (which may include a questionnaire) will be administered.
2. a daily record of each student's condition will be conducted.
3. 2 hours each of preparation and review time for this class, including 1-2 above, is standard.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
1. overall evaluation according to the following criteria.
 (1) In-class evaluation of participation in class activities, class proficiency tests, reaction papers, etc. is 60% (30 points each for the class teacher: 60 points in total).
 (2) The in-class evaluation also includes learning activities to be done outside of class (preparatory study and review).
 (3) Report to be prepared in the summative: 40%.

2.Attendance requirements for eligibility to sit the examination are as follows.
 (1) Attendance for at least 10 out of a total of 12 sessions over 6 days (2 sessions per day x 6 days).
 (2) Only on the last day (examination day), the first half of the class is counted as two sessions.
 (3) Absence from the first half of the class on the last day is counted as two absences, and late arrival or early departure is counted as one absence.
