(Course outline)Considering Society through Ceramics: Focusing on the History of Chinese Ceramics
(Learning Objectives) Ceramics was the first tool that utilized chemical change for human beings. Northeast Asia has a long history of ceramics. In this class, we will study the historical development and stylistic transition of earthenware and ceramics, focusing on the history of Chinese ceramics. We will also study the role and significance of ceramics in society, in addition to their function as vessels, from the perspectives of "technology," "style," "exchange," "order," and "power," as well as the state of society in each period.
