Outline (in English)

Peter Sloterdijk, one of Germany's leading contemporary philosophers, is considered by some to be the only German philosopher since Heidegger, but he is also regarded as a trickery philosopher because of his rapid succession of major works that are marked by their unique combination of caricatural style and difficult rhetoric. Although little known outside of Germany during the 20th century (two of the first three translations of his books in other languages were Japanese translations made by the lecturer), in recent years however, his works have attracted worldwide attention, and his new works have been translated competitively into English, Spanish, and other European languages as soon as they were originally published. We will introduce the thoughts of this unique philosopher who, at the age of 76, is still writing vigorously and breaking new ground in his thought.
