Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The purpose of this course is to learn the basic concepts of school psychology and the practice of school consultation. Focus will be placed on special education and consultation for the teachers working with children who have developmental disabilities and intellectual disabilities.

【Learning Objectives】
At the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
Given the information about the children for consultation, 1) read relevant research papers, 2) design behavioral treatment plans, and 3) propose the treatment plans to the teachers and parents of the children.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are expected to prepare for the class by working on weekly assignments (average of 3 hours), engage in-class role-play exercises with other students, and discuss treatment plans. Academic as well as practical advice will be provided by the lecture.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Final grade in this class will be decided based on the following: Class participation (30%), the completion of the weekly assignments (40%), and the presentation of research review (30%).
