Outline (in English)

This course focuses on the field of natural geography, particularly hydrology. Although the field of hydrology covers a wide range of research fields, the main objective of this course is to acquire knowledge of tracer hydrology, which elucidates the formation process of groundwater temperature and chemistry, and the movement of water based on its regional extent. In addition, since groundwater is often utilized as a hot spring resource in Japan, the characteristics and origin of groundwater will also be outlined. Students are required to do about two hours of homework before and after each lecture. Grading will be decided based on mini-exam and final exam (80%), and the quality of student's performance in the lecture (20%).
