Outline (in English)

Course outline:
This lecture will discuss the development of Christian monasticism and its historical significance from ancient times to the late Middle Ages.

Learning Objectives:
The goals of this course are to understand Christian monasticism, understand religious spirituality in medieval society through monasticism, and consider the interrelationship between monasticism and secular social life.

Learning activities outside of classroom:
Students should consolidate their understanding of the course content by reviewing the handouts and reading the bibliography.

Grading Criteria/Policy:
Short reports: 20%, Term-end report: 80%
