Outline (in English)

This course introduces the history of the modern east Asia focusing on China (People's Republic of China), Hong Kong and Taiwan (Republic of China) area.
The goal of this course is to understand the present various issues about international relations of east Asia from a historical perspective.
After each class meeting, students will be expected to spend 2 hours to understand the course content.
Final grade will be decided based on term-end examination (70%) and in-class contribution (30%).
