Outline (in English)

Information technology is advancing rapidly, and developers of services and products need to keep in mind the major changes that will occur in the future. However, we exist in an era of extreme change and uncertainty, and it is impossible to predict what kind of society will be established in the medium to long term. For strategic planning under such uncertain circumstances, a methodology called "Foresight" is used. Foresight is a method of anticipating the range of possible situations that may arise in a situation where it is in principle difficult to "predict" that a particular situation will materialize due to uncertainty. Specifically, it defines the range of possible future changes by connecting multiple points on the boundaries of future changes, articulating the points on the boundaries of change as scenarios, and exploring the conditions under which these scenarios will occur and their implications. The objective of this class is to develop the ability to cope with an uncertain future by learning and practicing foresight methods.
