Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
In the field of environmental policy, this class will look into the problematic situation, national policies and international trends.
As regards points of view, we shall pay attention to the principles, techniques and actors of environmental policies.
As regards topics, we will address air pollution, the water system, waste and resources, climate change, chemicals, biodiversity and the SDGs.

[Learning objectives]
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
・consider environmental problems to be their own, rather than someone else's.
・can explain their views on environmental policy using terms and concepts derived from environmental policy theories.
・can explain the problematic situation, national policies and international trends of typical environmental problems.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant chapter(s) from the text. Your required study time is at least one hour for each class meeting.

[Grading Criteria /Policies]
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
midterm and final examination: 25% each, class contribution: 50%.
The contribution point will be allocated as follows:
homework 25%, speak in class 10%, reaction paper 10%, groupwork 5%.
However, I may adjust the allocation of the point depending on circumstances such as the number of students attending the class.
