Outline (in English)

Bioethics has evolved from the inhumane human experimentation of the mid-twentieth century to its present-day form. Taking into account these historical human rights issues, this class will study the four principles of bioethics (respect for autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice), the three types of consent concepts (informed consent, informed assent and proxy consent), and related legal provisions (laws, guidelines, and declarations). Students will watch medical dramas related to the course content to deepen their understanding of various concepts of bioethics and human rights issues. This course is suitable for deepening legal education as listed in the "Culture, Society and Law Course. It also belongs to the course "Administration, Public Policy and Law" courses. In the preparations, Students should read the relevant sections of the textbook related to the class. Students should also use reference books to understand the meaning of technical terms, etc. (2 hours). Review: Students should read and review the materials distributed in class (lecture notes and reference materials). Then, answer the assignments given after each class using the class support system. In addition, summarize your thoughts on the topic, referring to the opinions of other students in the discussion (3 hours). Examination method: Written exam, timing: In-class exam. Overall evaluation: 50% for each assignment and 50% for the written exam. These two elements have the following criteria: (1) Whether or not the student can give appropriate examples based on their own experience and knowledge (40%). (2) Whether the four principles are correctly understood and explained (30%). (3) Whether the three consensus concepts are correctly understood and used (30%). Students who moderate the group discussion (and write the "Summary") will receive an additional 5 points for the class evaluation.
