Outline (in English)

Course Outline: This course deals with the history of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy.
Learning Objectives: The aim of this course is to understand the fundamentals of the history of calligraphy, such as styles and schools of calligraphy, major calligraphers, and the significance of surviving examples of calligraphy.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Before and after each class meeting, students are expected to spend two hours understanding the content of the course
Grading Criteria/Policy: The overall grade of the class will be determined based on: final exam (70%); and performance in class (30%).
