Outline (in English)
Course Outline: We will focus our scrutiny on works of literature by Mori Ogai. After ascertaining Japan’s contemporary gender norms, we will attempt to discern aspects of the interplay between these norms and Ogai’s literature in line with specific works, reflecting on how the gender of the writer has influenced their works and expressions. Through these tasks, we seek to provide students with the opportunity to master the perspectives, techniques, and methods for critical reading of literature. In doing so, students will discover and think about challenges that are also relevant to today's society, as well as suggestions for their own research.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
Read modern and contemporary literary works, plays and movies from a gender and sexuality perspective, and discover and think about problems that lead to the present day.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Preparation: 1. Investigate the works of Ogai Mori and their context. 2. Read through the works covered in each session, and refer to dictionaries and annotations for any unclear points. 3. Organize your own impressions and impressions of each work.
Review: 1. Reread the work based on the content of the lecture and try to consolidate your understanding. 2. Obtain literature introduced in class and read it through. 3. Read other Ogai works and contemporaneous novels.
Homework: Visit and explore Mori Ogai Memorial Museum (Bunkyō Ward), Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature, and other museum exhibits introduced during class.
Grading Criteria/Policy: The final grade will be calculated according to the following process: Short reports (30%), term-end examination (70%). Attending at least two-thirds of classes is required.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
森鷗外の作品とそのアダプテーション（鷗外作品を素材とする演劇や映画）を、ジェンダーとセクシュアリティに焦点化して読む。20世紀初頭に編制された性をめぐる規範を確認し、規範形成過程と文学との相関の様相を知る。鷗外作品の精読を通じて、文学テクストを批評的に読解する視点と技術と方法を身につける。以上の学修によって、実社会にもつながる課題や自身の研究への示唆を、受講者それぞれが発見し、考える、きっかけとなることを目指す。
到達目標Goal
近現代文学作品および演劇や映画を、ジェンダーとセクシュアリティの観点から精読するための方法を身につけ、現代にまでつながる問題をみずから発見し思考する力を涵養する。
To learn how to read modern and contemporary literary works, plays and movies from a gender and sexuality perspective, and to develop the ability to discover and think about problems that lead to the present day.

【準備学習】①森鷗外の作品やその周辺について調査する。②各回でとりあげる作品を通読し、不明な点については辞書や注釈を参照する。③各作品についての自身の感想・印象を整理する。
【復習】①講義内容を踏まえて作品を再読し、理解の定着につとめる。②紹介された文献を入手し、通読する。③他の鷗外作品や同時代の小説を読む。
【宿題】文京区立森鷗外記念館、神奈川県立神奈川近代文学館、そのほか授業中に紹介された博物館展示を踏査する。

授業時にプリント配布する。鷗外作品の多くについては青空文庫でのダウンロードを用いる
。映像作品の視聴方法については授業時に指示する。
参考書References
『鷗外近代小説集』(岩波書店)、金子幸代編『鷗外女性論集』(不二出版)、その他授業中に指示する。
成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
リアクションペーパーおよび小レポートの内容30％、期末レポート(または試験)70％。3分の2以上の出席を必須とする。

学生の興味関心を広げるため、鷗外作品と今日的トピックを架橋する話題提供を行う。学生の意見を尊重してその発想に学問的裏付けが得られるようサポートするために、リアクションペーパー用いた質問・コメントと、それに対するリプライを徹底する。映像資料や視覚資料を活用し、学修内容の理解につとめる。文献調査の仕方やレポートの書き方の基本的なガイダンスを行い、卒業論文執筆のための参考に供する。

パソコンが使用できることが望ましい。プリンターがあれば学習効率がより高くなると思われる。
その他の重要事項Others
明治末期から大正期にかけての文学史的知識を備えていること、フェミニズム／ジェンダーの学知について興味と関心があること、春学期・秋学期あわせて履修することが望ましい。質問については授業時に受け付けるほかメールでも対応する。メールでの質問の場合は、件名を「日本文芸研究特講 学籍番号 氏名」とすること。メール宛先：fujiki@olive.ocn.ne.jp
