Outline (in English)

Course Outline: This lecture is about the mythological world of ancient Japan. Learn how the ancients saw, felt, and thought in ways that we today have lost sight of.
Learning Objectives: The objectives of this lecture course are: to ascertain the meaning of why we have created a way of thinking called mythology; and to learn how to decipher documents to understand the mythological world of ancient Japan.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Please read the handouts carefully. The standard preparation and review time for a class is 2 hours each (4 hours per week).
Grading Criteria/Policy: Grading will be based on the following: report exam (60%), attendance (40%, including reaction papers, etc.).
