Outline (in English)
Regarding the Japanese performing arts that developed after the early modern era, we will learn about the history, the characteristics of music and lyrics, the relation to theater and dance, the characteristics of experts and enthusiasts, and above all the music. In the spring semester, we mainly target music for the koto, shamisen, shakuhachi and kokyū.
The goals of this course are to expand interest in music and performing arts that have developed since the early modern period, and to acquire basic knowledge of their history and characteristics.
Before and after each class, students are expected to spend four hours understanding the course content and organizing the materials.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: term-end examination (60%); in-class contribution (40%).

近世以降に発展した芸能のうち、「三曲」と呼ばれる種目の特徴と魅力を学びます。
到達目標Goal
音楽を中心に、近世以降に発展した芸能（とくに「三曲」）への関心を広げること、そのための基本的な知識（歴史、特徴）を身につけることを到達目標とします。

近世以降の日本の芸能を対象に、歴史、音楽と詞章の特徴、演劇や舞踊との関連、享受する人間の身分や階層など、さまざまな側面から概観します。春学期（A2569）と秋学期（A2571）の授業は個別に履修可能ですが、内容的には関連します。
春学期には、お稽古事の対象として普及し、音楽のみで楽しまれることの多い「三曲」（地歌、箏曲、尺八楽、胡弓楽）をとりあげます。まずは「三曲」に使われる楽器を紹介し、続いて、それらの音色を生かし、歌としての魅力にも富む多彩な作品を紹介します。知識としてではなく、目で耳で感じ取ることができるよう、多くの視聴覚教材を使います。なお、「三曲」の大正時代以降の状況については、秋学期の授業で紹介します。
毎授業の最初に、前回の授業で提出されたリアクションペーパーのコメントや質問にもとづいて、フィードバックを行います。

講義内容の説明。近世に発展した音楽芸能の特徴。
第2回[対面/face to face]：三曲とは何か。
三曲に使う楽器。
三曲の伝承者の特徴。三曲に使う楽器（箏、三味線、尺八、胡弓）の特徴。絹糸弦の製作方法。
第3回[対面/face to face]：三味線の伝来。
地歌の歴史と特徴①
三味線伝来の経緯。伝承の基本となった三味線組歌と長歌物。
第4回[対面/face to face]：地歌の歴史と特徴②
叙情性に満ちた端歌物。
第5回[対面/face to face]：地歌の歴史と特徴③
音色の重なりと緩急の変化が楽しい手事物。

芝居の一場面を歌う浄瑠璃物と滑稽な物語を歌う作物。

箏の製作方法。箏曲の誕生。

伝承の基本となった箏組歌。器楽曲である段物のルーツ。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
授業時に紹介される作品を、自身の感性を研ぎ澄まし、自分なりに受けとめる姿勢が基本です。授業前の予習はとくに必要ありません。授業後には、配布資料を整理し、それぞれの作品の歴史的背景や特徴を復習して、次回の授業に備えます。本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
成績は、平常点40％、期末試験60％（配布資料とノートの持ち込み可）の比率で評価します。出席回数が授業総数の３分の２に満たない場合には、特別な理由がない限り、不可とします。
