Outline (in English)

Course Outline: This course is an interactive lecture about the issues of Japanese language studies.
Learning Objectives: The goal is to focus on the Japanese language as the basic element of literary works, in order to propose theories about it from a variety of perspectives and with no limit as to historical period; this semester deals with works of the early modern to contemporary periods. By doing so, students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for writing their graduation thesis.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: In addition to using the library for study, students should visit the instructor's office for consultation if needed. As preparation and review of each class, students will be expected to spend about 2 hours to understand the course content.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: short oral presentations (30%); in-class contribution (20%); and written reports (50%).
