Outline (in English)

【Course Outline】
Through Kant's "Religion within the boundaries of mere reason" we will learn how Kant thought about the religion of mankind through "rational belief (Vernunftglaube)". This will deepen our thinking about the nature of religion according to our diverse interests in religion.

【Learning Objectives】
The following three points are to be achieved in relation to Kant's theory of the rational religion of mankind.
(1) To be able to understand what Kant's theory of religion teaches.
(2) To be able to consider religion from the perspective of Kant's theory of religion.
(3) To be able to evaluate the significance of Kant's theory of religion from various perspectives.

【Work to be done outside of classroom】
Before class, students are required to read through the PDF of the class handout uploaded on the learning support system (Hoppii) and think about the class content in advance (2 hours). After class, they are required to review the class content, write an essay on what they thought about the assignment, and submit it on the learning support system (2 hours).

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
(1) Attitude toward participation and achievement of the learning objectives as confirmed in each assignment report
(2) Level of achievement of the learning objectives confirmed by the final report at the end of the semester.
* The overall evaluation will be made by assigning 70% for (1) and 30% for (2).
