Outline (in English)

Course outline:
In the context of health welfare, students will learn about the roles which mechanical/electrical engineering and software engineering play. Through this, they will understand how engineering technology and understanding of human are essential factors in the development of the field.

Learning objectives:
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
- To understand the basic principles of welfare engineering
- To understand the basic principles and the latest status of various technologies in this field
- To think about welfare and medical instruments based on a general understanding of physiology and neuroscience.

Learning activities outside of classroom:
For the report at the end of the term, students will survey a specific area of welfare engineering and summarize their thoughts about the area.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Grading criteria/policy:
Grading will be decided based on quizzes in each lecture (50%) and report at the end of the term (50%).
