Outline (in English)

【授業の概要(Course outline)】
  In this class, students will learn about Japanese annual events. In Japan, there are rites of passage that have continued since ancient times. It is important for those who raise children to ensure that they grow up healthy. In addition, various events are held to help them live long and healthy lives after they reach adulthood.
  Which event is the most important in your country?  And why?  Students learn about the meaning and history of these events, and the reasons for their continuation.

【到達目標(Learning Objectives)】
The goal of this class is to compare Japanese culture with that of other countries in order to clearly recognize the differences between the two cultures and to facilitate mutual understanding.
  Students will also be able to express their understanding in writing.

【授業時間外の学習(Learning activities outside of classroom)】
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.

【成績評価の方法と基準(Grading Criteria /Policy)】
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on class participation (30%), assignment submission (30%), and final report (40%). 
Attendance of at least 2/3 of the class is required.
