Outline (in English)

<Course outline>
This course examines issues surrounding imperialism and colonialism in modern and contemporary western history using primary and secondary sources. Students are expected to participate actively in discussion on relevant literature and give presentation about their own research projects in preparation for writing MA dissertations.
<Learning objectives>
1) Students are able to read academic books and articles with precision and criticism in view of developing historiography.
2) Students are able to critically assess historical sources and present their arguments articulately based on their findings.
<Learning activities outside of classroom>
Students are required to take on every assignment - reading assigned part of textbook, preparing oral presentation, writing academic essay - seriously. After the class, they have to review what they have learned in the class and continue to advance their research projects for MA dissertations.
<Grading policy>
Grade is given based on class participation and quality of assignments presented/submitted.
