Outline (in English)

（(Course Outline and Learning Objectives)
This course aims to improve the reading ability of English articles on European modern history. Attendants are expected to read assignments in advance and participate in the discussion.
（Learning activities outside of the classroom)
I expect students to have completed the required assignment before the seminar. Your study time will be more than four hours for a workshop at least.
(Grading Criteria)
Grading will be decided based on the students' presentation and the quality of the performance in the seminar.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives

西洋近現代史に関する英語テクストを丁寧に読み、内容について議論する。西洋史を学ぶ上で必須である外国語文献の読解力を養うとともに、報告を行うことでプレゼンテーション能力を高め、議論する力を培う。

到達目標Goal

・外国語を読解し、日本語で表現し、考察する力を持つようにする。
・歴史、特に西洋近現代に関わる外国語文献を読むことで歴史を比較する力を養うことができる。
・報告することでプレゼンテーション力をつけることができる。
・議論することで他者と双方向で思考することができるようにする。

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)（学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. ）

外国語文献の和訳を分担して担当し、各自がレジュメを作成して報告する。これに対して参加者の意見を受けて正確な訳と理解に努める。演習形態である。単に和訳を作成するだけでなく、内容について歴史研究においてどう考えるかを議論するようにする。
2022年度は、2021年度に引きつづき『コモンサンス』を読む。
授業は、原則としてオンラインで行う。ただし、オフィスアワーを使って、フィードバックや質問などを行う際には、可能な限り対面とする。
