Outline (in English)

<Course Outline> The aim of this course is to help students improve the ability to read and comprehend the historical sources written in Latin. Students are also required to make a presentation concerning their own research.
<Learning Objectives> At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to make a literal translation of the Latin text into Japanese, and to improve their presentation ability.
<Learning activities outside of classroom> Students are required to make a literal translation of the assigned Latin text before each class meeting, and after the class meeting to review their own translation. They are also required to prepare for the presentation of their their own research. Their study time will be more than five hours for a class.
<Grading Policy> Grading will be decided based on the preparation for each class meeting (40%), the reading comprehension of Latin texts indicated in class meetings (40%), and in-class contribution (20%).
