Outline (in English)

<Course Outline> The aim of this course is to help students acquire and improve the ability to read and comprehend the historical sources written in Latin.
<Learning Objectives> At the end of the course, students are expected to become familiar with Latin grammar and to be able to make a literal translation of the Latin text into Japanese.
<Learning activities outside of classroom> Students are required to make a literal translation of the assigned Latin text before each class meeting, and after the class meeting to review one's own translation. Their study time will be more than five hours for a class.
<Grading Policy> Grading will be decided based on the preparation for each class meeting (40%), the reading comprehension of Latin texts indicated in class meetings (40%), and in-class contribution (20%).
