Outline (in English)

[Lecture Title:] Reading Irving’s Gothic Tales
Students learn to carry to a higher level the skillful analysis of language and text, by close reading of Washington Irving's gothic tales. Students also obtain knowledge about literaty gothicism and about its developments.
[Learning activities outside of classroom:] Before/after each class meeting, students are expected to spend 2 hours
respectively to understand the course content.
[Grading Criteria/Policies:] Overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: in-class contribution [positive participation] (70%),final report [paper] (30%).
