Outline (in English)
This is a course to learn the Indian mahayana Buddhist MAdhyamika philosophy and Buddhist epistemology. The main aim of this course is to give participants an understanding of how KamalaZIla, a later MAdhyamika philosopher, used DharmakIrti's Buddhist logic and epistemology in order to establish his madhyamaka philosophy.
By the end of the course, participants should be able to understand the followings:
1. Logical structure of the proof of the truth consisting in the selflessness of all dharmas.
2. The structure of the cognition which directly understand the the truth of selflessness.
3. Later MAdhyamika view of life.
Before/after each class meeting, participants will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided base on the following: Presentation (60%) and Contribution in class (40%).

中観思想と認識論・論理学；
インド大乗仏教後期中観派の学者Kamalashîlaは、自身の中観思想の確立のために、仏教論理学者Dharmakîrtiの認識論・論理学をどのように受け入れ、解釈したのか。
到達目標Goal
・経典の権威に関するDharmakîrtiとKamalashîlaの立場と、Kamalashîlaの経典解釈法を理解する。
・後期中観派の法無我・無自性性論証（真理説論証）の構造と特色とを理解する。
・法無我という真理の直観知はどのようにして成立するのか、その知の成立構造を理解する。
・後期中観派が示す「瞑想の階梯」から見て、中観思想はどのような哲学思想と言い得るか、それの哲学思想としての本質について、自分の考えを纏めてみる。
・後期中観派が説く、菩薩の生き方・人生観を理解する。

授業形態：オンライン授業（リアルタイム配信型）。
授業の進め方：まず、仏教の基礎知識として、仏教の世界観、その特徴、初期・部派仏教と大乗仏教の間では、思想・教義の変化に応じて世界観がどのように変化したのか、これらについて概説する。次に、Kamalashîlaの中観思想とそれを最も特徴付けているDharmakîrtiの認識論・論理学とを、Kamalashîlaが著した中観仏教習得実践マニュアル『修習次第初編』（First Bhâvanâkrama (= BK I)）の原典英訳（和訳参照可）を輪読しながら、理解していく。そのテキストの輪読の途中、経典の権威に関するDharmakîrtiとKamalashîlaの立場、Kamalashîlaの経典解釈法、Kamalashîlaの無自性性論証の論理については、論文講読を行い、中観思想と仏教論理学についての深い知識を習得する。後期中観派が提示する「瞑想の階梯」についてテキストを読解した後、中観思想の哲学思想としての本質について議論を行う。最後に、仏教徒の生き方・実践知の確立にとって最も重要な手がかり・手段となる「中道」と「中道の確立方法」とをテキストを通して学習してから、後期中観思想が説く、菩薩の人生観について考え、理解する。
授業は、概説・講義の回もあるが、基本的に演習形式である。担当者を決め、テキストや英語論文の訳文を発表してもらう。
課題等の提出・フィードバックは「学習支援システム」を通じて行う予定である。

東アジアに殆ど伝えられることが無かったインド後期中観思想を学ぶのは、多くの学生にとって初めてのことだと思います。授業では、丁寧な指導・解説を心掛けたいと思います。
