This lower-level graduate course will enable students to become familiar with the fundamentals of the writing process: from brainstorming and note-making, through the organisational stages to the final editing and proofreading of a completed piece of work. During the course, students will be expected to hone their writing skills by submitting regular summaries and discussion documents on topical global political issues. Regular ‘language clinics’ will help to minimize common organizational, grammatical and stylistic errors. Most of the actual writing will be done outside of the classroom, with time set aside during the lessons for discussion, peer group evaluation and a variety of other activities.
