Theme: Relations between Plague, State and Religion
The fundamental aim of this seminar is to consider the relations between plague, state and religion.

The goal of this course is to consider the impact of infectious diseases on human history and future prospects of them by studying relationships between pandemics, states and religion since the birth of a civilized world.

<Work to be done outside of class>
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant chapter(s) from the text and prepare the paper. Your required study time is four hours foreach class meeting.
