Outline (in English)

In this class, we will study the representation of gender and sexuality in literary works, films, dramas, and comics, while reviewing what we learned in Queer Studies A, held during the spring semester.
Students will learn to analyze how gender and sexuality are represented in the media while considering the historical and social background of various genres and works.
Learning objectives:
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
a) Learn about the analytical methods of feminist literary criticism and queer theory.
b) Develop the ability to interpret the representation of gender and sexuality in the media.
Learning activities outside of the classroom:
Students are required to submit three essays and to read the reference material by the next session (one to three hours for every session).
Grading criteria/Policy:
The final grade will be decided based on the following:
Involvement during discussion: 10%
Short essay (1): 25%
Short essay (2): 25%
Short essay (3): 40%
