Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
In this course, students will first learn about the structure and function of the brain (central nervous system), followed by themes such as sensation/perception, movement, memory/learning, emotion/stress, motivation, sleep/biological rhythms, and consciousness, and will learn the basic knowledge about the biological basis of psychological function and behavior (biological psychology, physiological psychology, and psychophysiology) and higher brain dysfunction (neuropsychology).

[Learning Objectives]
By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to:
1) Outline the structure and function of the brain nervous system.
2) Outline the mechanisms of physiological responses such as memory and emotion.
3) Explain disorders of higher brain functions and necessary support.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Reading through the material in advance as preparatory study will help you understand the class content better.
After the class, review the material and ask questions to the class instructor or read related books if you are interested in the material to deepen your understanding.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is two hours each.

[Grading Criteria /Policies]
Evaluation will be made on the basis of the reaction papers submitted after each class (30%) and the final exam (70%).
