Outline (in English)

Course Outline: We often receive texts in the form of books and magazines (web-based texts will be covered in the fall semester). First, we will gain a solid understanding of the process by which texts are transformed into books and magazines.
Learning Objectives: Students will acquire knowledge to appreciate books and magazines not only from the perspective of “reading” but also from the perspective of “creating,” or editing and producing.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Please carefully think about what makes a book or magazine attractive to you, as if you were the editor of the book or magazine, by visiting real bookstores frequently. Key words for the next class will be presented beforehand, so please get as much prior knowledge as possible. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Grading Criteria/Policy: The evaluation of your performance will be based on your participation in class (50%) and the contents of your final report (50%).
