授業の概要と目的(何を学ぶか)Outline and objectives
英語で表現するためには、必要な単語や表現方法を知っていることが必要であることは誰もが認識しています。しかし、完全に知識を蓄積してから表現を試みようとすると、その時期は来ないという可能性も考えなければなりません。高校で習得した知識と技能を基にして、さらなる学習は継続しながらも、獲得している力で表現を試みることがこの授業のテーマとなります。前期はリスニングにも着目します。See below.
到達目標Goal
Students will improve at oral skills. Students will improve at giving presentations by practicing. Students will be graded on their content, delivery and visual aids.

Students will practice making speeches in groups and pairs. Peer feedback will help the students improve on any weaknesses. Lectures will be kept at a minimum. Feedback can be given in class. The instructor can give oral feedback and feedback can be given by students in peer review. Students will listen to speeches in their groups each week and will give oral and written comments about other speeches.

授業形態/methods of teaching:対面/face to face

第1回[対面/face to face]:Orientation and unit 1 Students will introduce each other in groups and in pairs, both informally and formally
Self-introductions. Students will introduce themselves to each other. The lesson focus is on the introducton in speeches.
第2回[対面/face to face]:Unit 2 - Hometowns. Students will talk and write about their hometowns.
Hometown and eye contact. Students will start to assess each other based on eye contact.
第3回[対面/face to face]:Unit 3 Students will converse and present about their families.
Family and gestures. Students willl practice making gestures while communicating.
第4回[対面/face to face]:Unit 4 - Students will talk about and will give speeches about their interests or hobbies.
Interests and stage position. Students can practice speeches while standing. Also, the lesson focus is on conclusions.
第5回[対面/face to face]:Review - Students will write, make visual aids and give speeches.
Students will prepare and will practice their speeches. Students will give feedback in their group. They will make visual aids.
第6回[対面/face to face]:Speeches - Students will have time to prepare their speeches and will then give teir speeches for a grade
Students will give their speeches for a grade. Each student can assess another student.
第7回[対面/face to face]:Unit 5 - Students will talk and write about education, and share their opinions or memories.
Education and projection. Students will practice reading aloud.
第8回[対面/face to face]:Unit 6 - Students will talk about culture and will give speeches about culture.
Culture shock and enunciation. Pronunciation practice will continue.
第9回[対面/face to face]:Unit 7 - Students will think and give speeches about stereotypes.
Stereotypes and intonation. Students can assess each other's intonation and pronunciation.
第10回[対面/face to face]:Unit 8 - Students will talk and give speeches about population and will practice pronunciation.
Population and phrasing. Students will practice reading aloud slowly, in order to practice sentence stress.
第11回[対面/face to face]:Unit 9 - Students will give speeches related to the topic, and will assess other students
Events and anticipating questions. Feedback on speeches should be given orally, and students can practice note taking.

Students will write and
practice giving their speeches and will give feedback to other students. They will make visual aids.
第13回[対面/face to face]:Speeches - Students will prepare and will giver their speeches for a grade.
Students will give their speeches and will listen to other speeches, and will assess one student each.
第14回[対面/face to face]:Unit 10 - Students will give their final speeches and can assess each other in groups or pairs.
Places and understanding questions. Students can assess each other in groups.
