大学生活や、就職後にも役立つように、英語を使って発信する力を養います。そのために、クラスメイトをオーディエンスとして、個人で効果的なプレゼンテーションをするためのスキルを磨きます。また、クラスメートのプレゼンテーションに対して、有益なエバリュエーションを行うことも学びます。See below.

The goal is for students to improve at presentation skills and also at listening and speaking. Students will be graded on their content, delivery, and visual aids.

Students will learn in pairs and groups. They will give speeches in groups and will give each other feedback in order for students to improve. Lectures will be kept at a minimum. Group and pair practice is the focus. Feedback can be given in class by the instructor and by students in peer review. Students can make oral and written comments of the peer review of speeches in groups.

第1回[対面/face to face]:Orientation - start first unit on introductions - students will introduce themselves
Overview of the class. Student will do a self-assessment of their abilities. Students will practice introductions.
第2回[対面/face to face]:Unit 1 (Continued) - Students will practice making introductions.
Self-introductions.
Students will practice giving introductions and pronunciation, as well as close dictation with a partner.
第3回[対面/face to face]:Unit 2 - Students will give a speech about an important person and will learn a technique for better
Important people or things. Students will practice using facial and hand gestures.
第4回[対面/face to face]:Unit 3 - Students will give about places important to them and will practice making gestures.
Interesting places. Students will practice emphasis with hang gestures. Also students will learn about graphics for sides.
第5回[対面/face to face]:Unit 4 - Students will give a speech about an opinion and practice pronunciation.
Sharing opinions. Students will learn more about gestures with emphasis.

Students prepare for their speeches. They can write, make slides and give feedback to other students.

Students will give their first speeches for a grade. They will assess another student.
第8回[対面/face to face]:Unit 5 - Students will give a speech about an important person in the past and will practice making gestures.
Talking about people. Students will learn more about hand gestures and appropriate gestures.
第9回[対面/face to face]:Unit 6 - Students will tell a story in their speech and will practice sentence stress.
Talking about your past experiences. Students will learn about emphasis in pronunciation along with gestures.

Expressing opinions about various issues. Students will learn about tables, graphs and chunking.

Opinions and the future. Students will review gestures and will practice chunking in pronunciation.

Students will give and listen to their speeches. Each student will evaluate another student. Students will make visual aids.
第14回[対面/face to face]:Group practice and feedback - we will try to finish what is left of the text, and an review what was learned.
Students will give feedback about their final speeches. We will finish what has not been covered in the text.
授業時間外の学習(準備学習・復習・宿題等)Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
Students should review after each class in order to prepare. Students must prepare outside class for their graded speeches. Some students should spend time outside of class writing a bit of the speech for the following class as class time is limited.本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
First speech - 40%
Second speech - 40%
Participation - 20%
Participation means speaking and listening to each other in class in English.
It means helping other students by giving feedback and listening to their speeches. Participation will be reduced when students are late, use their phones or are sleeping.
