Outline (in English)

It is often said that political theory is born in an age of crisis. In terms of confronting those crises and aiming to solve them, political science has been compared to medical science since ancient times. In this course, we will study some representative contemporary political theories, which confronted, for example, the crisis of two world wars, the human standardization in mass society, the discrimination or elimination of minority, terrorism, populism in democratic society, etc. I will try to ask critical questions on the issues which the contemporary political theories are still confronting. Especially, the question to ask is whether these theories can solve the problems, and if not, what it means to us.
