Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
This course introduces the common thinking process and examples on environmental issues. Although there is no single correct solution for any environmental issue, the common thinking process will be applicable. To realize an environmental policy, it will be required to allocate human resources and budget for the tasks, and to predict and evaluate the effects. As the scope of environmental issue is very wide, it is not possible to cover all themes due to limitation of time. Energy and pollution issues will be taken up mainly. In addition, COVID-19 and infectious transmission simulations will be introduced as hot issue.
[Learning objectives]
The goals of this course are to understand the common thinking process to realize environmental policy, (1) identify the problem to be solved, (2) setting a goal, and (3) planning how to achieve it.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
After each on-line session, students will be expected to have read the relevant chapter(s) from the text.
[Grading Criteria /Policies]
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process: 2 reports (mid-term) 50%, Examination (term end) 50%.
