Outline (in English)

Course Outline
Governments conduct a wide range of economic and other public policies including, for example, the construction of dams and roads, the provision of education services, and the provision of a social security system. While of course there are a large number of areas that are left to the private sector, the question nevertheless is why there are areas in which governments directly and indirectly contribute to the provision of goods and services. This course considers this issue from a microeconomic perspective using welfare analysis.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the course, students are expected to acquire the ability to evaluate economic policies based on economics.

Learning Activities Outside of Classroom
Before/after each class meeting, students are expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Grading Criteria /Policy
Final grade will be decided based on the following:
Term-end examination: 80%, Review questions after each class: 20%
