Outline (in English)

Structural design is the creative act of drawing out the appropriate framework that a building structure should have. Structural design is not only related to science and technology, but also to many other things. Aesthetics, history, culture, philosophy, ideology, economics, and so on. Structural calculations, which are generally thought of as structural design, are just a way to add the finishing touches to this activity and prove that the structure is strong and sound enough to meet the requirements. Before entering such a stage, it is necessary to construct a basic structural concept based on an integrated judgment, which is structural planning.
In this class, we will study the examples of famous structural designers and experience the flow of structural design from structural planning to structural calculation through the design of actual structures.
