Outline (in English)
Course Outline: In this lecture, we will use a textbook shown in the list. The lectures introduce the issues of Japanese language.
Learning Objectives: This class is a compulsory subject for the Department of Japanese Literature and it can be taken from freshman level. Students observe Japanese from different perspectives and analyze it objectively, so that they can deepen their understanding of Japanese linguistics and get to know its charm.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Before each class, students need to read the textbook. As preparation and review of the class, students will be expected to spend about 2 hours to understand the course content.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: usual performance score (based on reaction paper comments, thoughts, and questions at each class meeting, 50%), regular exam (50%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
日本語に関する知識を幅広く修得し、応用のきく考える力を多方面から養います。沖縄最古の歌謡集『おもろさうし』の言語を大和古語と比較することで、問題の立て方、資料の集め方、論の組み立て方、書き方についても学びます。その他、日本語の興味深い点について、いろいろと紹介します。
到達目標Goal
この授業は、１年生から履修できる日文の必修科目ということで、日本語を様々な角度からよく観察し、客観的に分析する方法を学ぶことによって、日本言語学への理解を深め、その魅力を知ることを到達目標にします。

授業はプリントとテキストを併用して進めます。前半は、プリントで具体例を示しながら、身近な日本語の意外に知られていない面を受講生と共に考えます。後半は、テキストを用いて、沖縄方言の古い姿を大和古語と比較することで、語源・文法・表記について丁寧に解説します。講義形式の授業ですが、リアクションペーパーに書かれた「質問・コメント・感想等」を次の授業で紹介したり、個別に答えたりします。
