Outline (in English)

The aim of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of the historical aspects of criticism of "religion". Continuing from the semester of the spring semester, this course deals with the historical issues such as "beliefs of others" and religious tolerance. In the autumn semester, while also considering the political dynamics between secular state and church authority, the goals of this course are to understand the current from the Renaissance through the enlightenment thought to the establishment of the science of religion of the 19th century, and to obtain basic knowledge about the principle of contemporary separation of church and state.
