Outline (in English)
The aim of this course is deepening your understanding of the History of the Western countries through learning the required texts independently and writing the papers.
It’s important to know and realize the meaning of the historical words, the historical phenomena and the characters of the Times and the areas.
We ask you the tests for estimating the level of your understanding.
You write the papers of the specified theme.
For writing the papers you investigate the literature related to the theme besides the required texts, read them in detail, grasp deeply the character of the system and the Times and represent them into the paper using the proper expressions.

【科目の概要】Method(s)
指定テキスト（指定市販本）を自主学習し、リポートを作成することによって西洋史について理解する。
指定テキストの学習によって、歴史用語、重要な事象の意味、時代や地域の特徴を理解することが重要です。学習の理解度を示す試験を実施します。特定のテーマについてのリポートを作成します。リポート作成に際しては、指定教材だけではなく、独自に文献を調べて、よく読み、設題に関連する時代の特徴、制度、歴史用語などについての理解を深め、文章に表現します。適確な表現を模索する姿勢が大切です。
【成績評価基準】Grading criteria
単位修得試験は指定市販本から出題します。重要な歴史事象について、原因と結果を論理的に説明し、展開できるように、内容把握に努めましょう。リポートについては、歴史用語や時代、事象について理解しているかどうかを評価します。
まず、指定市販本以外に積極的に参考文献を探し、調べること。一つの歴史事象について複数の文献にあたり、調べた内容を掘り下げ、時系列的に具体的に説明します。多様な見解があることを理解しましょう。リポート作成の原則に従い、リポートをまとめます。

【学習指導、注意点等】Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
通信学習のリポートに添削・講評でフィードバックする。リポート作成にあたっては、「設題回答にあたっての解説・注意等」をよく読むこと。各時代の特徴を時系列的に具体的に考えてみます。制度、文化、対外関係などに注目しながら、全体の流れを整理してみましょう。リポートを書いたら、必ず読み直してください。意味がわかりにくいところは必ず訂正し、自分の文章を練り上げていきましょう。
