Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The aim of this course is help students acquire an understanding the international situation, an environmental problem, natural disasters, culture
and so on through CNN original English.

【Learning Objectives】
The goals of this course are to acquire high English proficiency, critical thinking and social skills through listeing, reading , writing and speaking.

【Learning activities and outside of classroom 】
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to spend one hour to understand the course content and have read the relevant chapter and completed the assignments.

Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives

CNN International シリーズ2023年版を教材として、経済不況や震災、ウクライナ情勢といった世界的な混迷の中にあっての世界情勢を、ナマのニュース英語で理解していく。
6回のオンライン授業は授業動画を配信するオンデマンド型とする。

到達目標Goal

タイムリーなトピックを取り上げ、リスニング、リーディング、ライティング､スピーキング学習を通して、英語資格試験のためではなく、変化する社会情勢を的確に把握し、異なる意見を持つ人たちと対等に渡り合える英語力、批判的な視点の持ち方を身に着けていく。高い英語力だけでなく、社会的教養を身に着けることも目指す。

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)（学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. ）

本授業は全14回中8回を対面型授業、6回をオンライン授業（授業動画を配信するオンデマンド型）とする。
ほぼ2回の授業で1つのUnitを学習する。1回目の授業では授業動画を視聴し、各自Definition とExamplesを完成させ、かつニュースの音声を聞いてディクテーションして空欄を埋め、配布のAnswer sheetに解答してHoppiiを通して締め切り日までに提出する。2回目の授業（対面）では、全員がニューススクリプトを完成させていることを前提に内容理解を行い、内容に関連したプリント教材を学習する。
Unit 一つ終了ごとに語彙の小テストを行う。

適時グループワークを行い意見をまとめる課題がある。

課題等に対するフィードバック方法
毎週課題の提出があるので、オンラインの時はHoppii を通して指定の締め切り日までに提出し、それはHoppiiを通して返却される。対面授業の課題はその都度提出し、次回授業時に返却される。
小テスは採点返却される。
