English 6: Academic Writing and Presentations Skills
Academic writing and presentation are similar in many ways. In this class, we will focus on the structures of writing and presentation and learn to do both more effectively.

This class is designed to help students improve their academic and critical writing and presentations skills to prepare them for studying abroad.

Students will be given a number of reading which will need to be finished for homework. These readings will then serve as both models for their own writing, and as topics for discussion. Peer evaluation, editing and group work will all be important elements of this class.

授業時間外の学習(準備学習・復習・宿題等)Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
Students will need to read and prepare opinions before class. Students will also need to prepare writing and group presentations outside of class.
University guidelines suggest preparation and review are around 4hours a week for a two-credit course and around an hour a week for a one-credit course.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Students will receive feedback and comments on homework assignments and in-class activities throughout the term. In principle, no more than 3 absences per term are allowed.
Class participation: 20%
Homework: 20%
Group presentations 20%
Essays and written assignments: 40%
