Outline (in English)
English 3 builds upon skills and knowledge gained from English 1 and 2 and aims to provide students with further opportunities to think critically and express their opinions on a variety of topics in English. In part II we will continue this journey through intercultural exploration.
Students will learn about aspects of culture and society across cultures with Japan at the centre, exchanging ideas and opinions while building their communication skills in all aspects.

English 3 builds upon skills and knowledge gained from English 1 and 2 and aims to provide students with further opportunities to think critically and express their opinions on a variety of topics in English. In part II we will continue this journey through intercultural exploration.
Students will learn about aspects of culture and society across cultures with Japan at the centre, exchanging ideas and opinions while building their communication skills in all aspects.
到達目標Goal
Students will read, write,hear and speak about topics relevant to their lives, studies and futures. The main sources will be in British English, but cultures across the world - not only Anglophone - will be included in the sources used.

This class will be conducted online. All scheduled classes will be held on Zoom. Assignments will be conducted mostly through Google Classrooms. Details will be posted on the HOPPII class management system in due course.
In each class reading and listening materials will be the starting point for discussion and information processing. In alternate weeks a writing exercise will be included with an emphasis on accurate self-expression. This work will be returned individually with corrections and comments.
There will also be a group presentation exercise which will focus on cooperative communication and public speaking.

Text reading and review and presentation preparation will be required. Tasks will be set each week as appropriate.(本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。)University guidelines suggest preparation and review are around 4
hours a week for a two-credit course and around an hour a week for a one-credit course.
