Outline (in English)

This class is intended to improve students' general ability of using English focusing on politics, society and history of the Great Britain, the motherland of English language. Students will read essays written in English with 700~800 words, and this reading part will be the main focus of the course. The contents of reading are from various academic fields of the humanities, social science, and natural science which are related to Britain. Through this reading of English essays, students will acquire knowledge of British society, culture, and history, and consider diversity and multiculturalism in this country from various lights. In addition, students will work on writing and speaking activities in pairs or groups. As the finishing work of the study, students will give presentation in groups at the end of the term. Students will make groups according to their interests or questions about topics learned in the semester, examine those, and present their study in English. Students' cooperation to work together and solve the problems will be valued throughout the course.
