Outline (in English)

We face today global environmental problems such as global warming that cannot be addressed by one country alone; international cooperation is necessary. The purpose of this course is to therefore survey the history of environmental issues and their current status and to understand the international measures to tackle them, with a focus on global conventions.
As such, students are required to read a newspaper or watch TV programs and have an interest in real issues and social trends about global food demand and supply before each meeting, and also to review contents of each class with the use of reference books to promote understanding basic knowledge after each class. In addition, Some of the material in this class will be explained using high school level mathematics, therefore students who are terrible at the subject should revise beforehand.
Finally, Students in this class will be graded based on the following sum: several mini-tests (30%) and a final exam (70%).
