Outline (in English)

The lectures for this course will encompass concepts of insect physiology and chemical ecology and their application for insect pest management. Students will understand the function and chemical structure of hormones that regulate the condition of the body. And they also understand “pheromones” which mediate intraspecific communication and “allelochemicals” mediating interspecific communication. Furthermore, students will understand the application of semiochemicals in insect pest management.
Your study time will be more than four hours for a class. Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: Mid-term examination: (45 %)Term-end examination: 45 %、and in-class contribution (10%).
