Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In this seminar, we will consider various aspects of the relationship between language and society, using "multilingual society" as a starting point.

【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
-Students will acquire the ability to think from multiple perspectives: language from society and society from language.
-Students will be able to find and explore their own research topics.
-Students will develop the ability to listen to others' opinions and cultivate a relative perspective on their own linguistic knowledge and experiences.
-Students will acquire the ability to learn from literature on seminar themes or personally interesting topics, and articulate them in their own words.
-Students will develop the ability to present topics orally and produce logically structured reports with reference to the literature.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
-Preparation of presentations, peer evaluation of presentations.
-Writing of reports.
-The standard preparation and review time for this seminar is 2 hours each.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Final grade will be calculated according to the followings:
-Oral presentation 20%
-Assignments such as resumes and comment sheets for each session 30%
-Final report 40%
-Active participation in the seminar 10%
