Outline (in English)

This course deals with pop culture as well as impact of COVID-19 on the cultural and creative sectors especially popular music like Rock, Pops, Punk, Hip-Hop, EDM, House/Techno/Rave, J-Pop/Idol or K-Pop etc.; how "bring us together"-culture like popular music should/could be with "new normal"? It also enhances recognition of their forming condition in our society along with relationship between art and people. The participants are expected to explain basic concepts of modern art, pop culture, popular music and media studies. They are also expected to be able to evaluate or explain changes in the media environment and its influences into art and culture related with our dairy life. The aims of this seminar are to be able to discuss and imagine not-understandable actual situation of our living world and to realize how complex the relationship is between art/culture and politics by which our dairy lives are affected unconsciously. The key words of this seminar are: "media"/"technologies", "empathy"/"sympathy", "sense of unity", "body" and "identity". The participants are evaluated through presentations, writing reports and discussion each times.
