Outline (in English)
We will concentrate on achieving natural English speech and mannerisms, and on improving confidence when speaking without worrying about getting every word perfect. The goal is communication.

授業の概要と目的(何を学ぶか)Outline and objectives
This class will give students the ability to engage in various conversations about basic and intermediate topics, and give them the opportunity to enjoy sharing and comparing ideas in English.
Topics will be difficult but interesting.
到達目標Goal
Our first objective is to help each student find their "English voice." They will learn how to be comfortable speaking in English, even when they don't know exactly the words they want to use. Our second goal is to learn how to make logical arguments in English for use in discussion and debate.

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)(学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. )
First semester will see students learning the nuances of discussing ideas in English, and we will engage in dialogues based on presentations students make.
Students will be evaluated based only on their participation at first, but eventually they will also be evaluated on the clarity of their arguments and ideas.
Homework: Students will write short essays that will require some research. Those essays will be used to have discussions about the topics.
Classwork: Students will present their essays as speeches to groups. Groups will then discuss the content of the speeches, and finally the class will work together to find the main points.
Final Assignment: Students will give a presentation in front of the class. The rest of the class will ask questions and challenge the statements made.
Suggestions, study advice and other feedback will be given weekly.
